1. SKUNK’S HOLLOW........................................2:37
Drums/Delbert Metherel Bass/Joe Agnello Mandolin/Kevin Fullbrook Guitar, Percussion & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
It was down the eleventh just off the highway / I caught my first fish on a warm summer Sunday / It was just a chubb and they’re real hard to swallow / But that’s what you catch when you fish at Skunk’s Hollow / With a bent cedar branch tied up with old string / We’d go huntin’ but we’d never shoot a thing / We’d go swimmin’ even though it’s too shallow / It just didn’t matter we were at Skunk’s Hollow / It was a dip in the road with a creek runnin’ through / A place where you’d go if you’d nothin’ else to do / A place where you’d hide from what you didn’t want to face. Skunk’s Hollow is a magical place / As I got older something changed in me / Now the girl down the road kinda struck my fancy / Long blonde hair and her dress was bright yellow Crumpled in a pile in the grass at Skunk’s Hollow / We were drinkin’ under age and smokin’ up some hay / Doin’ a hundred miles an hour in a bent Chevrolet / With the cherry flashin’ red the black & white was quick to follow / But they couldn’t hold the road comin’ through Skunk’s Hollow

2.  SMALL TOWN GIRL (the kitchen version)......................3:55
Bass/Neil Numminen Piano/Paul Conlan Suitcase/James Gain
Guitar & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
Well I get thinkin’ ‘bout a few years back / when I drove a Chevy pick-up with some carpet in the back / Most of the time was a waste and then / Along came this girl with some licorice in her hand / Small town girl. She knows how to hitch-hike / She chews Dentyne, and she’s mine for the rest of my life / She might help you wash your truck / So you’ll take her for a drive ‘cause ya got a coupla bucks / you’ll do for her anything that she wants / ‘cause she got what it takes and takes what you want / She got a leather hockey jacket with Dave on the sleeve / He’s the centre on the Jr. D hockey team / She’s all through with him she’s just feelin’ a little cold / It’s only me now that she really wants to hold

3. THE BALLAD OF MABEL & JOYCE.................................................3:17
Bass /Joe Agnello Dobro /Frank Barth
Guitars, Drums, Percussion, Moos & Vocals /Blain Fullbrook
Mabel the milk cow was the butter for my bread / The cream in my coffee
the milk before my bed / She’d come when you’d call her even though we’d say coboss / She’d stay out of the cornfield and never make a fuss / We could tie her by the neck and she’d seem none the wiser / She’d just eat the hay and turn it into fertilizer / Ah but Mabel the milk cow, in the back of her mind wanted more from this life than to be just bovine / she needed more than food she was missin’ a sensation / she didn’t get the kick from artificial insemination. / So Mabel conspired with her milkin’ partner Joyce / To break out of the pasture and find themselves some boys / To get across the fence they had to struggle tug and pull / Ah but on the other side waited Murray the bull / Now on the other side the two admired their treasure / Murray licked his nose anticipating double pleasure / Ah but the Old Man was quick to find the two had gone astray / He jumped in the old truck and brought them home right away / Mabel & Joyce were rounded up in such a hurry / They didn’t test the love prowess of poor frustrated Murray / So Mabel & Joyce were confined to the barn The Old Man fixed the fence another lesson was learned / Mabel & Joyce planned out loud another coup It didn’t really matter what they said ‘cause it all just came out moo / The Old Man had plans so he wouldn’t have to worry / He just went next door and he borrowed good ol’ Murray / So Mabel & Joyce got what they wanted in the end / and Murray’s frustrations relieved right there in the pen / The Old Man was rewarded not with one calf but double / And that put an end to all our barnyard troubles.

4. SQUARE BALES..................................................................................3:37
Guitar & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
I ran down that lane just as fast as I could / I figured this wouldn’t please the Old Man / We never had square bales as far as I knew / So I’m runnin’ just as fast as I can / We usually had ol’ stogie smokin’ Cliff with his Allis Chalmers round baler / When Walter drove in with that grin and his square balin’ John Deere We weren’t gonna see Cliffs ol’ leather face / His asthma had been bad this year / But Walter’d work hard all day long and he was real good with his gear / He’d zero the counter, lower the table, hook up the P.T.O. / He’d climb in the seat and grind ‘er in gear and just go / Walter’d fork back his lunch double time and push back his plate for more / He’d unzip his wallet to make you some change before he went home to his chores / He’d unhook the baler and leave it right there / gather up his gas cans / Not bad for a guy with no hands / In the change from horses to gas powered tractors / Safety measures were lost / His parents were poor and worked hard all day long / And Walter paid what that cost / But it didn’t matter ‘cause as he got older he had to work anyway / Walter just put on that smile and went about his day / Well he wound up workin’ for the Region / You’d see him cuttin’ the grass in the ditch / The money wasn’t bad for the work that he did / But he was never gonna get rich / Walter didn’t care he just kept on smilin’ / He knew he was never gonna fail / And to think I was worrying about square bales.

I was down drunk and dirty in the Surfroom Lounge / I was out of money, I was seriously on the scrounge / It was Wednesday or Thursday there was no one around / Good Lord there’s nothing else to do in this whole town / Well just then the Boys broke in and said HEY, COME ON, LET’S GO / We got most of a jug of five star, the rods are in the Ford. / Dougie’s gone to get a boat, the cola’s gettin warm / So get in quick and don’t forget we gotta get the worms / We’re goin’ fishin’ let’s go fishin’ COME ON / We’re goin’ fishin’ let’s go fishin’ / I don’t care if it’s cold or hot and I don’t care if I should or not / The only place that I’ll be caught, I’ll be fishin’ / I got a job diggin’ ditches out in the hot sun / The afternoon just started I had half a day ‘til I was done / The sun was getting’ hotter really beatin’ down / Five miles to nowhere one way and ten miles back to town / Well just then the Boys drove up……./ The next day I went to get paid Hell I worked ’til noon / The man said boy you’re just no good how come ya quit so soon? / I said I was fine ‘til about 9:00 then I got some blisters / I continued to work real hard, then what happened Mister is / The boys drove up……./ Well now I got no job and I got no money too / Now I’m in this great big rut, oh what am I gonna do / I guess I’ll settle in awhile and I’ll just wait right here / Before too long I know that I’ll be headed for the pier / You see the Boys’ll come along………

6.  CHRISTMAS ’62...............................................................2:08
Pump Organ/Mary Stinson playing Joy to the World/Hark! the Herald Angels Sing & Silent Night Original Spoken Lyrics/Blain Fullbrook
How do you do and you’re shakin’ hands as soon as you pull off your mitts / Fred’s got the stove just-a-blazin’ but it’s still a little cold where you sit / A ceiling high tree, a popcorn string, tinsel, some balls and a star / It’s Christmas time in Derryville, show starts in a half an hour The bustle dies down, the first act goes on, with the announcements out of the way / Susie Snowflake by Sandy & Dean and the whole hall’s startin’ to sway / The next act goes on and then there’s three more Proud Mothers all over the hall / There’s a smile for every face, there’s a bit of lunch comes the call / HO HO HO and jinglin’ bells and the worst beard you’ve ever seen / But when he pulls from the bag and your name’s on the tag / You’d swear he’s the real thing / Then the applause fades and the thank-yous are done / There’s a shuffle for coats and boots / Gee it’s been great to see you tonight, you don’t often see Bob in a suit / With the hands all shook and the cheeks all pecked / The young ones fadin’ fast / Then once I’m home I realize I’ve found the true meaning of Christmas.

8.  RAINSONG.....................................................4:22
Drums/Delbert Metherel Bass/Neil Numminen
Saxophone/Sandy Taylor Guitar & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
I’m sittin’ on my front porch with my arm around you / The cattle’re in the pasture there’s nothing left to do / And I’m thinkin’ maybe we could use some rain / Here it comes just drivin’ up the lane / The garden party’s hoppin’, lots to drink, plenty food / We’re dancin’ under lanterns, we’ve kicked off our shoes / The rain should dampen spirits when it comes, but I can’t remember when we had such fun / We held hands in the rain, we danced in the rain / Took a chance in the rain, made big plans in the rain / The thing with this roof is it only leaks when it rains / I thought I’d get right to it, but I didn’t just the same / As we sit among the pails and cans / You’ll wear a smile but you won’t hold my hand / A steel cold snowy drizzle turns into pouring rain / You’ve packed all your things oh here we go again / Then you take your last trip down the lane / Damn rain!

9.  BRING US ANOTHER ROUND.................................................................3:13
Dobro/Frank Barth Guitars, Bass, Drums, Percussion & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
You can have the Cooey there’s a half a box of shells / ‘member my brothers field car, we shot the taillights all to hell / Make the best of the Chevy, put ‘er back on the road / Now our dreams to rebuild her will be dreamt by you alone / Bring us another round, this one’s on me / Shake my hand I’ll drop you a line / I really gotta go this time / We never got to the Abbey, I guess times got too tough / That’s a lot of money for the way that we play golf / I was out to Ricky’s grave, you know his headstone’s covered in moss / One lousy night he shouldna drove now for twenty years he’s been lost / She got all the furniture, I get what’s left in the shed / The ring was too late to keep her…. The mags for that Chev ‘re at Ed’s This ol’ Ford don’t owe me nothin’ It’s got me everywhere / If it’ll just get me to the depot I’ll take the plates and leave ‘er there

10.  DERRYVILLE......................................................................4:25
Bass/Joe Agnello/Neil Chapman Pump Organ/Paul Conlan
Guitar & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
You’ll get a hundred bales to the acre, there’s a blacksmith and a baker
There’s a hotel and a general store / There’s a Church and a hall, a fowl supper every fall / We’ll all go when we’re done the chores / A Christmas concert in the hall will gather locals one and all / If you’re cold just go sit by the stove / I’ll cross the road with ol’ Pop Sherman / Straight to Church to hear the serman / God willin’ we’ll get through winter I suppose / Derryville is slowly disappearin’ you might as well buy your goods in town / People are startin’ to pack up and leave / No more they’ll be rejoicing Bringin’ in the sheaves / There’s a gas pump the roads are tarred there’s a lot more motor cars / And now there’s a meat locker in town / No one stays at the hotel the baker’s bread’s gone stale as hell / I hear the Blacksmith’s shop is closin’ down / Derryville is quickly disappearing no more concerts in the ol’ hall / The only thing left to do here is leave / No more we’ll be rejoicing Bringing in the sheaves / Derryville was right on the top of a hill / And where the concession road crossed the highway / you couldn’t quite see over the hill to see if anything was coming / That didn’t matter much when it was just horses / but once people started drivin’ cars / and learned how to drive them a little faster, / well just about anything could happen / So they tore down the houses, bulldozed the hill / Frank Doyle did nearly get killed / Now it’s easy to climb that hill with a load / But there’s nobody left to cross the road / Derryville quickly disappeared they took the houses the hotel and all / They even took down the sign and it’s hard to believe / There’ll be no more rejoicing Bringing in the Sheaves

11. IT’S ALRIGHT................................................................................3:12
Drums/Delbert Metherel Bass/Joe Agnello
Guitars Percussion & Vocals/Blain Fullbrook
I was standing by my window, the rain pouring down / If happiness was a whole brass band then I couldn’t make a sound / But if it wasn’t for the rain the sun wouldn’t seem so bright / Bad times make the good times good / Everything gonna be alright / The winter winds were blowing real hard, chilled me to the bone / I’m a million miles from your gentle touch and I’m out here all alone / If it wasn’t for the wind your fire wouldn’t seem so bright / All I do is think of you and I know / Everything gonna be alright / Everything gonna be alright / Grab your life and hold on real tight / Right the things that you think are wrong / Smile your smile and sing your song / The blues got a big hold on me I couldn’t look up for being down / One day she say we’re in love and the next it’s see you around / If it wasn’t for the blues my smile wouldn’t seem so bright / If she didn’t leave me then I wouldn’t have you / Everything gonna be alright
